After his escape and return to Najd, Faisal was able to capture Abdullah bin Thunayan and restore power to him to begin his second term. During this period, Faisal was consolidating his rule throughout the state, and the power of the Al-Rashid family was increasing. Faisal became blind at the end of his life, and his son Abdullah became in charge of managing state affairs with the advice of his father.

After the death of Faisal, his son Abdullah assumed power and the people pledged allegiance to him, but his brother Saud waged a war against him that lasted ten years. Saud moved to Najran, where its president helped him collect what he needed from the men, and he set out with his army to Riyadh, but he was defeated by the army that Abdullah had prepared under the leadership of his brother Muhammad, which led to his escape to Al-Ahsa. Later, after Saud regained his strength, he equipped another army with which he was able to defeat his brother Muhammad and capture him, then he headed to Riyadh, but its people revolted against him, led by his uncle, and defeated him, so Abdullah returned to it.

Saud then tried to enter Riyadh again and succeeded in that, as Abdullah fled to near Kuwait. After that, Saud fought Otaiba and was defeated by them, killing many of his followers. At the same time, Abd al-Rahman bin Faisal was able to return from Iraq, and when he arrived in Riyadh, he found his brother Saud outside Riyadh, who had fallen ill and died ill, so Abd al-Rahman took power, and Abdullah then defeated Abd al-Rahman and returned to power.
